Product Based Planning in the Project Management Body of Knowledge®

The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) Guide incorporates the concepts of product based planning.  These are:

 

Project Scope Management

Identifies the need for a Work Breakdown Structure to identify all of the work, deliverables, etc that are included in the scope of the work.  The key elements of this

  • Overall Product Description
  • Scope Statement (identifies the key deliverables)
  • Work Breakdown Structure

Project Time Management

The project activities are identified to product the products defined in the WBS.  The elements included in this area are:

  • Activity List
  • Project Network Diagrams
  • Project Schedule
  • Supporting Detail
